About the Central Lancs Team
Who are we?
Commissioned by Central Lancashire NHS we provide a breastfeeding peer support service across Chorley, Preston, South Ribble and West Lancashire. Little Angels have worked in some areas within Central Lancashire for 4 years but in March 2011 we were awarded a 3 year contract with the NHS to provide breastfeeding support across the whole area. Our team includes hospital peer supporters, community peer supporters, peer support admin, volunteers and also our Branch Manager.
We have an office base in Leyland which is 84 Hough Lane, above Angelina's charity shop. The charity shop raises funds for The Infant Feeding Trust (our sister organisation) and welcomes mums as a breastfeeding friendly premises. However, if you would like to speak to a Little Angels peer supporter, please always call our helpline first- we are not always in the office as we are usually out and about supporting mums!
What we provide
- Antenatal Information
- Support at Royal Preston Hospital and Southport & Ormskirk General Hospital on the maternity wards
- Postnatal telephone support and home visits
- Signposting to local breastfeeding groups
- Volunteer recruitment and training
- Support and information for young parents
Our dedicated team works across the area, supporting midwifery services to give mothers information and support with breastfeeding throughout their pregnancy and after the birth of their baby.
A Little Angel contacts all breastfeeding mothers referred to us soon after they come home from hospital and together you will decide what support you want from us.
Every mother’s experiences are different and some need more support than others, we can visit you at home or usually offer telephone support as a minimum to check how you and your baby are doing.
Our support is in addition to the care and support you will receive from your midwife and health visitors, but we are all working together to ensure you get the right amount of support for you and your baby.
