May 14th – 20th is National Breastfeeding Awareness Week and to celebrate we are organising The Big Feed. This will support the bill that David Kidney MP is proposing for England and Wales to protect a baby's right to eat in public.
The Breastfeeding (Scotland) Act 2005, which came into force in April 2005, makes it an offence to deliberately stop or prevent a child up to the age of 2 from being breastfed in a public place or licensed premises. We are campaigning for the same protection across the rest of the UK
On Monday, 15th May, there will be a static demonstration in London to be held on Richmond Terrace, adjacent to the Department of Health. This is to petition the Prime Minister and the government to back the Breastfeeding Bill that is being proposed later in the year. The petition will then be handed in to Mr Blair at number 10. Demonstration starts at 2pm. Please feel free to join us with your family. For further information contact: info@littleangels.org.uk
The Big Feed will be held on Saturday, 20 th May at 1pm. All around the country hundreds of mothers will be nursing their babies and children to show their support for breastfeeding. All through the week there will be events to celebrate and support breastfeeding.
The Big Feed in Blackburn is to be televised for a programme to be shown later in the year.

Organising The Big Feed in your area
Please email (michelle@littleangels.org.uk) or download an Action Pack which contains information on organising and arranging The Big Feed in your area. This can be inviting a few friends to meet at the local park to organising a Family Fun day for the neighbourhood. Whatever it is we want to know!!
In the Action Pack you will find information on breastfeeding, a sample press release, a petition to send to your MP and other valuable information to use.
Please click the links below to download posters that you use to advertise your event. Just print the poster, and personalise it with your event venue and your contact details.
As there are no posters available this year for National Breastfeeding Awareness week – why not purchase the Little Angels calendar at half price for just £3 plus £1 for postage and use the pictures in there to advertise breastfeeding. There are 12 lovely A4 pictures, which can all be laminated and are ideal for breastfeeding support.
