Little Angels celebrated National Breastfeeding Week 2011 with a full week of events...
Monday: Re-launch of the Hyde breastfeeding group
Peer Supporter Alison had goodie bags and a stall at her usual Monday Breastfeeding Group.
With some new faces in the group and a visit from Hyde Community Action, this event was supported by Hyde early years workers who provided activities for children.
Tuesday: Picnic in the Park (or Picnic in the Church!)
This event had to be relocated at the last minute thanks to our Great British weather. However, it was still a big success with lots of families and sandwiches! The event was combined with our volunteer recognition event. Sarah Parkinson, Volunteer Manager from Little Angels Head Office presented each volunteer with a certificate and a Little Angels pin badge in recognition of the great work our volunteers do in helping our local families.
There was an absolutely delicious cake, donated from Trifles in Ashton and balloons from Bear and Balloon. Messy play activities were available for all (including the adults!). The Reporter covered the event and took pictures to go in this week's Tameside Reporter. Big thanks to Jeni Harney who also took pics for us!
Wednesday: Awareness event at Gamesley Community Centre
Supported by Gamesley Children's Centre workers who took it in turn to dress up as Billy Bear! Lots of interest from local mums, dads and wider family. We had various activities including facepainting, messy play, hand printing on flags and foot spas for mums! A lovely buffet was
kindly provided free of charge by Nick and Donna at Gamesley Community Cafe. They also provided a free meal for 2 for the prize draw. The event was covered by a journalist from the Glossop Chronicle and they will be running an article on the event this week.
Thursday: Celebration Event at Hattersley Children's Centre
Lots of play and activities for the children, thanks to everyone who came and our volunteer Gemma Connor for helping.
Friday: The re-launch of the Church of the Nazarene Breastfeeding Group
Another very successful event- it was covered by two volunteers Jeni Harney (who also took photos) and Lauren McCann. A successful event to finish the week off attended by lots of mums!
