Volunteering with Little Angels
Volunteering as a breastfeeding supporter, involves offering support to breastfeeding Mothers. Mum to Mum support is invaluable to many Mothers, who can often feel isolated and would welcome support from women who have experienced breastfeeding themselves.
Volunteers help to offer Mothers the best possible service by caring enough to give up their free time, working in line with Little Angels policies and procedures.
Why Do People Volunteer?
We respect that every volunteer has their own reason for volunteering and we value the time and energy they invest. We strive to support each volunteer by providing encouragement, training, supervisions and recognition. Volunteering for Little Angels can offer;
- A sense of belonging, sharing and satisfaction
- Engagement in a shared aim – to empower women to breastfeed for as long as they choose
- Self Esteem and Confidence
The Benefits of Volunteering
The volunteer will gain valuable experience as a Breastfeeding Supporter and be provided with training to further their skills and knowledge. (Volunteers are not used to replace paid for staff. Volunteers provide a valuable service alongside Little Angels Peer Supporters and opportunities may arise to join these employees vacancies arise.)
Without volunteers there would be huge gaps in the level of support provided to mums, with volunteers taking on many roles;
- Support Groups
- Hospital Visits
- Telephone Support
- Event Support and Organisation
Policies and Guidelines
All Volunteers can be assured that by working in partnership with Little Angels, there are clear, universal policies, guidelines and boundaries in place. This provides protection for the volunteer and the families they support.
All volunteers are CRB checked and will be provided with a Volunteer Handbook to refer to, which will be explained during your induction.
